Since Daniel Craig stepped down from the role of James Bond a year ago, Idris Elba has made his way back onto the shortlist of actors who are vying for the role.
The actor had previously withdrawn his name from consideration in the hopes of landing a part as a villain in one of the films in the franchise, but it appears that audiences would rather see the English actor play the role of the eponymous secret agent who travels the world.

Idris has long been “in the conversation” for the next James Bond film, but his role is unknown. The actor said last year, “No, I’m not going to be James Bond,” but he was still hoping for an antagonist role.
According to information obtained exclusively by The Sun from reliable sources, the actor’s name is currently being considered for the role.
“Idris has long been in talks to play a role in the next era of James Bond’s story,” a source told the magazine. After secret market research, producers are again discussing him playing the lead.
Producers Realized How Popular The British Actor Is
Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, and Regé-Jean Page have been mentioned as possible replacements for Daniel Craig, but as the source explained, people want Idris as the “hero”.
In 2019, the British actor told Vanity Fair he’d love to play James Bond. “James Bond is a hugely coveted, iconic, beloved character,” he said.
“If someone asked, ‘Do you want to play James Bond?’ I’d say ‘Yes!'”
Producer Barbara Broccoli said earlier this year that Idris is in consideration for the role, but “it’s always difficult to talk when someone is in the seat.”
