In Kansas and New Mexico, the Interior Department is making Haskell Indian Nations University and Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute places where people can register to vote. We're glad that the VA is working with states to make veteran institutions into places where people can register to vote. These strategies enhance Native American and veteran civic engagement.

More can be done. This executive order could allow veterans, students, low-income people, and others to register year-round. We believe the Biden administration will honour HHS and IHS's pledges to expand voter registration for low-income and/or racial minorities. The Biden administration may extend voter registration.

DESE: FAFSA should include voting registration. 17 million students annually file the FAFSA. 83% of black students, 74% of Hispanic students, 54% of Asian students, and 77% of Native American students complete the FAFSA. Adding voter registration to the FAFSA process would help millions of voters who are not registered or whose information is out of date.
