Trending Food TikTok’s: TikTok is currently killing the social media game.
Addicting content includes viral dance routines, trending songs/audios, and everyday people making fun, engaging content.
The beauty of TikTok is you never know what you’ll get. It kept many of us sane during the lockdown and quarantine last year. If we’re being honest, we’ve spent hours a day on food TikTok. Not us.
We were tempted to try the Nacho Table trend, Banana Bread, Whipped Coffee, and Baked Feta Pasta. Finding recipes on TikTok is great because they aren’t perfectly curated videos made by “professional food bloggers.” They are made by regular people and home chefs who care about sharing good food.
Thousands of food-related hashtags and videos abound on TikTok. But how do you know which to try? Here are five of the most popular Trending Food TikTok’s that we think are worth your time. Plus, they’re easy to follow!
1. Baked Oatmeal
Some may disagree, but Baked Oatmeal has become extremely popular on TikTok. Try hundreds of variations. If you’re a big fan of oatmeal, these recipes are a great way to spice things up. But we understand that not everyone enjoys oatmeal. That’s fine. But those who say oatmeal is bland and boring are probably wrong.
Instead of just heating up oatmeal with water and cinnamon, add delicious flavour combinations and toppings. Cookies and cream baked oats are a favourite. You can find countless recipes on TikTok (one of our favourites is @traceoats). The best part about baked oatmeal is that you can use any toppings or ingredients you want once you have the base recipe.
2: Tortilla Wrap Fold
We’ve used the tortilla wrap fold for an easy lunch or dinner so many times. Who knew a single slit in a wrap could be so transformative?
This fold “hack” is genius yet simple. Make a slit halfway through your wrap and divide it into four quadrants. Then add your ingredients to each section. This trend has many variations. Like egg breakfast wraps or vegetarian wraps with vegan nuggets. And Nutella, peanut butter, marshmallow fluff, and banana dessert wraps.
The possibilities are endless, and this wrap hack is a great way to use up leftovers. Cook your wraps in a panini press or on a greased skillet until crispy. It’s up to you!
3: Pesto Eggs
Pesto Eggs are another breakfast recipe that has recently gone viral on TikTok. The method and ingredients are simple and delicious. Everyone has an egg carton in their fridge. Even if you have to run out to the store for pesto, there are countless versions available.
This recipe’s name says it all. To cook eggs in pesto is a no-brainer Hello flavorful pesto sauce that will seriously elevate your breakfast game. We’ve made this recipe many times, especially when we’re short on time for breakfast.
Cook your eggs however you like them- fried, scrambled, sunnyside up, etc. Because pesto is mostly oil, you can use it to scramble or fry eggs.
They don’t even need seasoning because the pesto adds so much flavour and richness. But it’s up to you (we like to add red pepper flakes). Serve your eggs with toast and coffee for a satisfying breakfast. It’s that simple!
4: Vegan Buffalo Cauliflower Wings
Last but not least, the infamous air fryer is used in this recipe. If you’ve been on TikTok before, you’ve probably seen a few air fryer recipes. From crispy veggies to warm and gooey chocolate cookies, our motto is: Air fry it!
This recipe for Vegan Buffalo Cauliflower Wings uses an air fryer to make them crispy. Seriously. We don’t know why, but cooking in an air fryer makes food taste better. It’s a personality trait now.
In a large bowl, combine flour, garlic, onion, black pepper, cayenne, and almond milk. Then mix in the cauliflower. Bake for 15 minutes at 375F, then coat in buffalo sauce (Frank’s is the holy grail). Then bake them at 375F for six minutes or until crispy. You’ll thank us!
5: 6-Layer Brownies
This six-layer brownie recipe is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. Don’t get us wrong, brownies are fantastic. However, if you take brownie batter and layer it with Nutella, Oreos, Bischoff spread, and more brownie batter, you’ll have a dessert that will take your taste buds to a whole new world. Best of all, the brownie batter isn’t made from scratch. Use your favourite boxed brownie mix (we like this one).
We’ve made this recipe far too many times to count, but trust us. It’s worth it. Who needs calories anyway? If you’re asked to bring a dessert to a party, try this recipe. The flavour combinations in each bite will astound you. We’re hungry just thinking about them!
