A screenshot can be sent via group chat, email, or social media.
The controls for taking screenshots vary by device. On Android, press the volume down and power buttons.
The home and power buttons on iOS A crosshairs icon appears when you press Command + Shift + 4 (all at once). Use Command + Shift + 3 to capture the entire screen. Now let’s look into Chromebooks.

Taking Screenshot With Keyboard
- To take a snapshot of your full Chromebook screen, hit Ctrl and Window Switch. Drag the crosshairs icon over the section of the screen you want to capture.
- Using an external keyboard requires a small modification. To take a complete screenshot, press Ctrl and F5, or Ctrl, Shift, and F5.
Taking a screenshot With Extension
Chrome extensions are designed to help you better use Chrome OS and/or the Chrome web browser. Not surprisingly, there are many Chrome addons for taking complete or partial screenshots on Chromebooks. Here is a list of some of the Chrome extensions available:
- LightShot
- FireShot
- Blipshot
- Nimbus
We’ve tried taking screenshots with Android apps, but they never function well. So we can’t yet recommend utilizing Android apps to take screenshots on Chromebooks.
Taking Screenshot With Stylus
The Google Pixelbook, HP Chromebook x2, Samsung Chromebook Pro, and Samsung Galaxy Chromebook all come with a stylus. Tap on the screen to bring up a menu that allows you to take a screenshot on Chromebook with the stylus.
Using the stylus, you can take a screenshot on Chromebook. In order to take a screenshot of the complete screen, select Capture Screen. The other is a little trickier. To snap a partial screenshot, select the Capture region from the stylus menu. When that option is selected, press, hold, and drag to capture the screen. When finished, simply remove the stylus.
Taking a Screenshot With Tablet Mode
- More Chromebooks are developed as 2-in-1 devices, where the display can be flipped 360 degrees or totally detached from the hardware keyboard. The screen becomes a big touchscreen tablet (assuming the display is a touchscreen model).
- In tablet mode, press the Power and Volume Down keys simultaneously to take a screenshot.
How to Access Screenshots on Chromebook?
After taking a screenshot on your Chromebook, a confirmation window will appear. Then you can easily retrieve your Chromebook screenshots. Open your Chromebook screenshot immediately from the notification pop-up. You can also reach your Downloads folder by launching your app launcher and searching for Files.
