Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis opens on June 24, but it’s already making a positive impression, including on the rock legend’s family.
Three generations of Presleys attended the biopic’s Graceland premiere. Priscilla Presley, Lisa-Marie Presley, and Riley Keough wore black to the premiere. Priscilla recently saw the finished film and shared her thoughts.
Priscilla Presley’s Real Thoughts On Austin Butler As Elvis
“I wish he could see this,” she said on Good Morning America. Perfect!
When Priscilla was 14, Elvis was 24. When she was 22, they married in 1967 but divorced in 1972.
Olivia DeJonge, who plays Priscilla in the biopic, was with her during the interview. Priscilla then discussed Austin Butler’s portrayal of Elvis. The actor beat out Harry Styles for the King of Rock role.
Priscilla: “Austin was amazing.” “As I watched it, I thought, wow, he’d have loved this.”
Austin risked his health for a compelling Elvis performance. The actor was hospitalized the day after filming because he pushed himself so hard physically.
He woke up at 4 a.m. in excruciating pain and was rushed to the hospital. Last month, he told GQ, “My body shut down.” Elvis was completed in 2021. Austin has a virus that mimics appendicitis.
“You can lose touch with who you are, and I did after Elvis,” he said, admitting he became obsessed with Elvis for the role.
If the Presley’s like Austin’s performance, this may be a must-see.
