Reynolds and Scobell are back. Reynolds plays a futuristic time-traveling pilot who hooks up with his younger self (Scobell) to preserve the future.
And now they’ve teamed up again, this time for Kraft Macaroni & Cheese for Hilarious.
Scobell stars in the new commercial for the renowned and cozy pasta dish. Scobell appears to have retained Reynolds’ distinctive sarcasm, wit, and comedy after channeling him on screen.
If cheese and rainbows had a baby, he jokes, describing his affection for Kraft Macaroni & Cheese for Hilarious.
“If your parents don’t buy it, stop loving them,” he says in another funny one-liner. Reynolds eventually concedes that “this may be my fault” and joins Scobell in wrapping things up. She says, “Hey buddy.” It’s time to get your act together since time is money and you’re wasting it.
Shawn Levy directed Reynolds in last year’s Free Guy. Scobell directs his first film, with Reynold as executive producer. Reynolds’ parents played by Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo. It’s been 18 years since they starred in the romance comedy 13 Going on 30.
“It was like we picked up where we left off,” Ruffalo told PEOPLE’s Segun Oduolowu last month. Like Jenna and Matty had Ryan Reynolds as a child and no one can explain how he grew that tall. Ruffalo’s Garner: “I know he was, and I was too. We had fun.”
After Ruffalo was cast, Levy told PEOPLE that his wife suggested Garner play the role and that Reynolds pointed out that this would be a 13 Going on 30 reunions. “It was very unintentional,” Levy remarked, “but we got all the benefit of Mark and Jen’s relationship.” In a different kind of time-travel movie, but one as beautiful and warm-hearted, reuniting them felt extremely… lucky,” Levy concluded.

Meanwhile, Reynolds also spoke to PEOPLE in February about the film, adding that his genuine adolescent self was “not unlike the 45-year-old me: just a ball of anxieties.”
“I cover it well when I perform and when I walk out on talk shows, fancy events, and everything,” Reynolds added. “But no, on the inside I’m in a wordless screech.”
What would the father-of-three movie star say to his younger self if he could? “All kinds of dreadful things are going to happen. All kinds of fantastic things are going to happen. It’s all the strange, wacky, eccentric recipe that makes up life,” he remarked. “So, you know, keep on keepin’ on, kid. Just keep your chin up. You’ll be alright.”
