Although Microsoft does not compel you to change your outlook password on a regular basis, many security experts recommend that you do so. Changing your password is straightforward, regardless of whether you’re using the Outlook client or Outlook.com.
Change your Outlook.com password
If you use Outlook.com webmail service, changing your password is simple. Just remember that your Outlook.com password is the same as your Microsoft account password, so changing it once affects all of your Microsoft accounts.
1 . Open the security page for your Microsoft account and sign in with your current password to continue.
2 . Then select Password protection.

3 . Enter your old password and the new one you’d want to use on the Password Change screen, then click Save.
4 . Use the new password when you visit Outlook.com in a browser.
Your Outlook client password can be changed by following these instructions.
It’s likely that the password for a Gmail, Yahoo, or other account that you use with the software on your computer has been changed recently. If this has occurred, please sure to complete the process in Outlook as well. As with earlier versions of application, you’ll be requested to update your password in the app’s account settings, just as you were before.
- Terminate the Outlook software.
