Car crashes in the last 24 hours near me: A 19-year-old Tenafly driver was killed and three passengers were injured — one critically — when a sedan slammed into a tree, authorities said.
An injured passenger marked a police car on Knickerbocker Road on the corner of Columbus Drive after the crash at 10 p.m. on Saturday. Tenafly police chief Robert Chamberlain said
firefighters cut the roof to free a 32-year-old woman from Bayonne who was sitting in the front seat.
She and the two passengers in the back seat, a woman from Creskill and a Bergenfield man, both aged 20, were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, Chief Daily Voice said.
The Tenafly driver was pronounced dead at the scene north of Riveredge Road and south of Hickory Avenue. Your identity has been temporarily retained to ensure that your closest family members are fully and properly notified.
The others suffered injuries ranging from serious to life-threatening, Chamberlain said.
District police, firefighters and the Tenafly Voluntary Ambulance Corps were among the emergency services, along with members of Dumont Fire Rescue.

Chamberlain thanked “all the first responders in the district and neighboring towns who responded and helped with last night’s surgery. Special thanks to the Tenafly and Dumont fire departments for the difficult extraction they were able to carry out successfully.”
Tenafly Police, along with the Bergen District Attorney’s Office, the Bergen District Medical Officer and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Criminal Identification Office, determined the evidence of the Collection.
Chamberlain asked anyone with additional information about the accident or events that led him to contact Tenafly Police: (201) 568-5100.
