Nationally Arthur Hairston and his wife Shanita have launched North Florida Behavior Consultants, which provides training and solutions to schools, families, and individuals with developmental delays. He writes books for adults and children to explain these disorders.
Arthur, BCBA, M.Ed, launched the company at 32 to help families and educators who may not be trained to deal with student disorders.
“Having worked as a teacher, then a dean of students, and helping foster and adoptive families, I realized certain demographics had different challenges,” Arthur said. “I always knew I wanted to use my skills in underserved and African-American areas because so many families don’t know what help is available for children with behavior issues. I want to break the stereotype that we don’t seek help. No child is bad. We must consider many other factors to help a child.
Arthur writes books to help kids, parents, and teachers understand behavior. His first children’s book Cloe Has A Tantrum made Amazon’s top 10 disabilities and emotional behavior bestseller lists in April 2022. Behavior Management: Practical Applications To Apply To Your Classroom will be released in 2022.
