National — Meet Jennifer Lang, founder, and CEO of Jennifer Lang Financial Services, LLC, a Black-owned life insurance agency based in Houston, Texas. Her company has grown to two call centers.
Jennifer, like most people, thought life insurance was for funerals. When her mother got sick, she realized it could be used for so much more.
Jennifer was a corporate manager in New York at the time, but an emergency call changed everything. Jennifer left New York for a two- or three-week stay while her mother was hospitalized. Those weeks turned into ten years of full-time caregiving for her mother.
Because Medicare only covers 100 days of long-term care, she hired home health aides to help with her mother’s daily activities (ADLs).
The annual out-of-pocket cost was $35,000, so her total cost was $350,000. Her research led her to long-term care products. But, like any insurance, it must be purchased in advance.
Jennifer got her life insurance license to help others avoid this financial learning curve. She focused on teaching no-risk strategies backed by life insurance to help consumers cover rising long-term care costs.
She created a call center to help consumers nationwide protect their future financial goals as she started her company and contracted with multiple life insurance companies.
